Le colonel Abbas Abdi est le chef des forces de l’ordre iraniennes dans la préfecture de Divandarreh. La réaction des forces de l’ordre aux manifestations qui ont eu lieu à Divandarreh en septembre 2022 a été particulièrement brutale. Le recours excessif à la violence par les forces de l’ordre pour réprimer ces manifestations a entraîné la mort de nombreuses personnes. En tant que chef des forces de l’ordre à Divandarreh, M. Abdi est donc responsable de graves violations des droits de l’homme en Iran.

Colonel Abbas Abdi is an involved person under the Iran (Sanctions) Regulations 2023 because: he is and has been involved in the commission of serious human rights violations in Iran, namely being responsible for, engaging in, providing support for and promoting serious violations with respect to the right to life and the right to freedom of expression and peaceful assembly in Iran in his role as the police chief in Divandarreh city, Kurdistan province and in the suppression of protests.
