En mars 2014, Kozenko a été nommé vice-président du Conseil d’État de la soi-disant “République de Crimée”. Il a publiquement reconnu avoir participé aux événements de 2014 ayant conduit à l’annexion illégale de la Crimée et de Sébastopol, qu’il a défendue publiquement, notamment dans une interview publiée le 12 mars 2016 sur le site internet gazetacrimea.ru. Pour sa participation au processus d’annexion, il a été décoré de la médaille “Pour la défense de la ‘République de Crimée’” par les “autorités” locales. Il est coordinateur de la commission d’intégration “Russie-Donbass”. Depuis juillet 2022, il est le soi-disant “chef adjoint” de la soi-disant “administration régionale de Zaporijjia”, créée par les forces russes dans la ville occupée de Mélitopol. Continue à soutenir activement les actions et les politiques séparatistes.

Former Member of the State Duma, elected from the illegally annexed Autonomous "Republic of Crimea". Former Member of Duma Committee on Financial Markets. In Mar 2014, Kozenko was appointed as a Deputy Chairperson of the State Council of the so-called "Republic of Crimea". He has publicly admitted his involvement in the events of 2014 that led to the illegal annexation of Crimea and Sevastopol, which he has publicly defended, including in an interview published on gazetacrimea.ru website on 12 Mar 2016. For his involvement in the annexation process he has been awarded with a medal "For the defence of "Republic of Crimea" by the local "authorities". He is the coordinator of the Integration Committee “Russia-Donbas”. Since Jul 2022, he is the so-called “Deputy Head” of the so-called “Zaporizhzhia Regional Administration” established by Russian forces in occupied Melitopol. Remains active in supporting separatist actions and policies.
